Key responsibilities
Oversee and manage all welding operations, ensuring compliance with international welding standards and company quality specifications
Conduct welding inspections and testing to verify structural integrity and material compatibility of welded joints
Develop, review and update welding procedures and specifications in accordance with relevant technical codes and industry standards
Train and supervise welding personnel, ensuring they follow approved welding procedures and maintain safe working practices
Perform quality control inspections using non-destructive testing methods such as radiography, ultrasonic testing and visual inspection
Troubleshoot welding defects and implement corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence
Maintain detailed records and documentation of all welding activities, inspections and test results
Liaise with production teams, maintenance staff and external contractors to ensure smooth welding operations
Recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
Ensure full compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations throughout all welding activities
What we're looking for
Formal qualification in welding engineering, metallurgy or a related engineering discipline
Minimum 5 years' professional experience as a Welding Engineer or in a similar welding-related role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
In-depth knowledge of welding processes including MIG, TIG, stick welding and submerged arc welding
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, welding symbols and engineering specifications
Strong understanding of welding codes and standards such as AWS (American Welding Society), ISO or equivalent international standards
Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and quality assurance procedures
Demonstrated ability to conduct inspections, testing and documentation with meticulous attention to detail
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience training and supervising welding personnel
Proficiency in relevant software and computer systems for documentation and quality control
Safety-focused mindset with commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards
Preferably fluent in English; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is advantageous
