The Material Quality Control (QC) Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all construction materials used on-site comply with project specifications, applicable standards, and client requirements. The role involves inspecting, testing, documenting, and monitoring the quality of materials such as concrete, steel, aggregates, asphalt, and other construction materials to ensure compliance with quality standards and government regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and verify incoming construction materials before use on-site.
- Ensure all materials comply with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable
- standards (DPWH, ASTM, AASHTO, or other relevant codes).
- Coordinate and witness laboratory testing for concrete, soil, aggregates, asphalt, steel, and
- other construction materials.
- Review material test reports, certificates of compliance, and supplier quality documents.
- Monitor material sampling and testing schedules to ensure timely quality verification.
- Prepare and maintain quality control reports, inspection records, and testing documentation.
- Identify non-conforming materials and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and project teams regarding quality-related concerns.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to maintain quality standards.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Assist during inspections conducted by clients, consultants, and government agencies.
- Ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS) and project quality plans.
- Support project engineers by providing technical recommendations related to material quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- Registered Civil Engineer (PRC License) is preferred.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in Material Quality Control, QA/QC, or Construction Quality Assurance.
- Experience in government infrastructure projects (DPWH, school buildings, roads, bridges, or public facilities) is an advantage.
- Familiarity with construction material testing procedures and laboratory operations.
- Knowledge of quality standards, inspection procedures, and documentation.
