The Fuel Management and Trading Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end fuel procurement, sourcing strategy, and trading activities of the organization. This role ensures secure, cost-effective, and compliant fuel supply while optimizing trading opportunities, managing supplier relationships, and navigating global market dynamics.

General Responsibilities:
Fuel Sourcing Strategy & Supply Security
· Develop and execute short- and long-term coal sourcing strategies
· Ensure reliable, uninterrupted fuel supply across operations
· Diversify sourcing portfolio (domestic/import, suppliers, grades)
· Balance cost, quality, and risk in procurement decisions
· Oversee coordination with logistics (shipping, ports, inventory)
· Optimize supply chain efficiency (freight strategy, stock levels)
Trading & Commercial Value Optimization
· Lead coal trading strategies (spot, term, arbitrage)
· Capture market opportunities to optimize cost and generate value
· Manage pricing exposure, benchmarks, and contract positions
· Drive commercial decision-making based on market insights
Supplier Management & Contracting Excellence
· Lead negotiations for long-term and spot contracts
· Build strategic supplier and trader relationships
· Ensure strong contract governance, compliance, and performance
· Manage disputes and ensure favorable commercial terms
Risk, Market Intelligence & Compliance
· Monitor market trends, pricing indices, and geopolitical risks
· Implement risk mitigation strategies (price, supply, credit)
· Ensure regulatory, environmental, and trade compliance
· Provide forward-looking market intelligence to leadership
Team Leadership
· Build and lead a high-performing sourcing and trading team with clear roles, accountability, and cross-functional alignment
· Develop technical and commercial capabilities in sourcing, trading, and decisionmaking
· Drive performance management, fostering a results-oriented and accountable culture
· Ensure strong governance, ethical standards, and disciplined execution of sourcing and trading activities
· Establish and maintain a robust talent pipeline and succession plan
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Finance or a related field
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree, an advantage
Experience
- 10–15+ years of experience in coal sourcing, commodity trading, or energy procurement
- Strong exposure to international coal markets, including suppliers and trading networks
- Proven experience in contract negotiation for long-term and spot transactions
- Solid background in trading strategies, pricing mechanisms, and market analysis
- Demonstrated leadership in managing commercial teams and end-to-end supply chain operations
