About the role

We are seeking a Sea Import Assistant Manager to join our dynamic team in North Jakarta, Jakarta. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing sea import operations for our organization. As Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth, efficient and compliant import processes, managing client relationships, and supervising operational teams. This role is integral to maintaining the high standards of service that our clients expect and contributes directly to the success of our import and customs operations division.


Role and Responsibilities :

  • SOP & SLA Compliance, Ensure all Import Activities comply with established SOPs and SLAs, while conducting regular evaluations of operational performance

  • Performance Review, Prepare team and operational performance reports to identify areas for improvement and ensure target achievement

  • Cost Effectiveness, Control Sea Freight Operational costs to maintain efficiency and ensure spending remains within the approved budget

  • Billing Accuracy, Ensure the billing process is accurate and completed on time, while coordinating with the Finance team to prevent invoice discrepancies

  • Budget & KPI Alignment, Align operational activities with the company's KPIs and ensure budget utilization is in accordance with the approved plan

  • Claim Handling & Mitigation, Manage claims related to cargo damage, loss, or delays, and develop mitigation strategies to prevent operational failures

  • Customer Retention, Maintain strong customer relationship through proactive communication and prompt resolution of issues

  • Haulage Team Communication, Coordinate with the haulage team to ensure smooth distribution and delivery schedules in line with customer requirements

  • Customs Clearance & Shipping Line Coordination, Ensure customs clearance process comply with applicable regulations, while coordinating with shipping lines regarding vessel schedules, container arrangements, and supporting documentation.

  • Supervise and support junior staff members, providing guidance, training and performance feedback

  • Ensure compliance with Indonesian customs regulations, international trade laws and company policies

  • Identify and resolve operational challenges, bottlenecks and discrepancies in import procedures

  • Maintain accurate records and databases of all import transactions and documentation

  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure seamless integration of import operations with warehousing and distribution functions

  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs


Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Sea Import operations, Customs Clearance or Freight Forwarding

  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a logistics environment

  • Strong knowledge of Indonesian customs regulations, import procedures and international trade documentation

  • Proficiency with logistics management systems and customs declaration software

  • Excellent communication skills in Indonesian and English, both written and verbal

  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, with capacity to handle multiple shipments simultaneously

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping

  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure

  • Knowledge of HS codes, tariff classifications and duty calculation is advantageous

  • Experience with port operations, shipping lines and freight forwarding networks is desirable

  • Certification or training in customs procedures or international trade is a plus
