Digital applications are essential to how Van Oord plans, delivers and controls complex projects worldwide. To further professionalize and expand support for our Vopress application suite, we are looking to strengthen the existing support team with an Application Support Engineer.

At Van Oord, digital applications play a key role in enabling efficient, standardized and future proof ways of working. Data plays an increasingly important role in how we plan, execute and improve our projects worldwide. To further professionalize and expand support for our Production Engineering landscape, we are looking to strengthen the existing support team with an Application Support Engineer. The focus of this position will be to manage the support and improvement of our activity and production reporting system, the Activity Log and BI dashboards.

The Production Engineering Application Management team is supporting the Production Engineering team within the Tendering & Engineering department. This team is responsible for developing, supporting and improving the applications used by the Production Engineers & Project teams in the Production Engineering landscape. Production Engineers are responsible for estimating and optimizing the exaction duration of our projects, focused on our main assets. Project teams use some of the applications in the landscape for logging and analyzing data to report and optimize the project productions worldwide.

All vessels and projects are using the same activity and production reporting systems and need to be supported in various ways to ensure good data quality, meet project and vessel reporting needs and improve the system.

YOUR IMPACT

In this role, you will act as the first point of contact for Production (Support) Engineers and project teams using the Production Engineering landscape applications, like the ActivityLog and BI Dashboards. You will support end users by addressing their questions, configuring applications, and translating user experiences and inquiries into actionable improvements for the Production Engineering Application Management development teams. Besides that you will be working in close collaboration with the Production Support Department and project teams on site; to be their point of contact, provide training and support and discuss how to improve the data quality and reporting.

You will combine hands-on user support with strong analytical skills to identify root causes, coordinate issue resolution, and ensure that end users are supported effectively and in a timely manner. In addition, you will play a key role in onboarding, training, and access management, enabling users to get the most out of the Production Engineering landscape.

As part of your responsibilities, you will serve as the primary contact for end users within the Production Engineering landscape, ensuring smooth communication and support. You will translate user feedback, questions, and issues into clear support tickets and well-defined backlog items, while ensuring effective coordination between users and second- and third-line support teams. Furthermore, you will actively contribute to the continuous improvement of support processes within the Production Engineering landscape, helping to enhance overall efficiency and user satisfaction.

  • Respond to user questions and issues in a timely manner, ensuring clear communication and follow-up until resolution

  • Perform initial analysis of bugs and incidents to determine whether issues are technical in nature

  • Escalate complex or technical issues to second- and third-line support teams, and monitor progress through to resolution

  • Coordinate issue resolution by guiding users and facilitating collaboration between stakeholders

  • Support user onboarding and training by developing and maintaining training materials, including manuals, instructions, and example-based documentation

  • Manage and maintain user access across the Production Engineering landscape, including roles and permissions, ensuring regular updates and cleanup


ABOUT YOU

You are a service-oriented professional who enjoys helping users and improving their experience with digital applications. You combine strong communication skills with an analytical mindset, enabling you to quickly understand issues and translate them into effective solutions. You are comfortable working independently while remaining closely connected with colleagues in support and development teams, and you take a structured approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. You bring:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a similar support or application-focused role

  • A strong service-oriented mindset with clear and effective communication skills and a good command of English

  • Affinity with digital applications and the ability to translate user needs into concrete actions and experience with BI tools and Excel

  • A structured and analytical approach to issue handling, root cause analysis and improving data quality

  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams

  • A proactive attitude toward improving processes and user experience

  • A completed BSc degree in Engineering, IT or other relevant fields

  • You are fulltime available (40 hours) and willing to travel daily to our office in Cibubur.

ABOUT THE TEAM

In the position of Application Support Engineer, you will be part of one of the Van Oord teams in Indonesia. Currently 30 people are working from the office in Cibubur, just South of Jakarta, as part of the Van Oord Tendering & Engineering Department, located in The Netherlands.
