Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI/CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2) certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ASME, API, AWS D1.1, ISO 3834, and EN standards.
- Minimum 8-12 years of experience in welding and fabrication management within oil & gas, subsea, or heavy engineering sectors.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an Engineering or Production Management role overseeing workshop teams.
- Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication specifications.
- Sound understanding of welding metallurgy, processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW), and NDT methods.
- Strong working knowledge of QA/QC and inspection procedures, including documentation and traceability requirements.
Responsibillities:
1. Manage all welding and fabrication operations for subsea and surface equipment in accordance with company procedures and client specifications.
2. Review and approve fabrication drawings and ensure production aligns with engineering requirements.
3. Develop work schedules, allocate manpower, and coordinate with Planning and Production to meet project delivery dates.
4. Oversee Welding Procedure Qualification Records (PQRS) and Welder Qualification Tests (WQT) to ensure validity and compliance.
5. Monitor work progress and resolve any technical or resource issues to maintain smooth workflow.
6. Ensure all welding operations comply with applicable standards (AWS D1.1, ASME, API, ISO, etc.).
7. Oversee Welding Procedure Qualification Records (PQRS) and Welder Qualification Tests (WQT) to ensure validity and compliance.
8. Verify welding consumables, materials traceability, and adherence to approved procedures. 9. Liaise closely with QA/QC, Engineering, and clients for inspections, hold points, and approvals.
10. Lead, coach, and mentor Supervisors, Welders, and Fabricators to build technical competence and performance accountability.
11. Optimize welding and fabrication processes to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and minimize waste.
12. Provide weekly progress reports on welding and fabrication status to management.
13. Support project bidding and estimation by providing accurate welding/fabrication input and manhour forecasts.
14. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
