Key responsibilities
- Create and update CAD drawings and BIM models for data center facilities, including electrical rooms, mechanical spaces, cabling pathways, racks, and IT infrastructure.
- Produce P&IDs, layout diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment layout, and as-built drawings from provided field data and redlines.
- Develop and maintain bill of materials (BOMs), equipment lists, and spares catalogs linked to drawings.
- Ensure drawings align with applicable standards (e.g., IEC/NEMA, TIA/ISO cabling, data center design guidelines) and company CAD/BIM conventions.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and IT teams to verify dimensions, clearances, cable routing, and cooling layout; incorporate site constraints and safety requirements.
- Prepare drawing packages for project handoffs, construction, testing, and commissioning; produce revision history and change documentation.
- Review and manage redlines from site surveys, vendor drawings, and field changes; maintain accurate as-built records.
- Assist with 3D visualization and clash detection to optimize space, cable routing, and airflow.
- Provide basic drafting support for change management, incident investigations, and capacity planning documentation.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Architecture, or related field; or equivalent drafting/technical experience.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent) and BIM software (Revit, Navisworks, or similar); experience with 3D modeling a plus.
- Familiarity with data center components and layouts (rack rails, PDUs, UPS, cooling units, cable trays) is desirable.
- Knowledge of drawing standards (ISO/IEC, NFPA, TIA/IEEE) and ability to apply them to data center documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and version control practices.
- Effective communication to translate field data into clean, actionable drawings.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple drafting tasks concurrently.
Skills
- Experience with DCIM-linked drawing practices or data center modeling is a plus.
- Familiarity with standard data center layouts, space planning, and cooling/airflow considerations.
- Basic understanding of scripting or automation to streamline repetitive drafting tasks is a bonus.
- Certifications in CAD/BIM software (e.g., Autodesk Certified user) are a plus.
