A Safety Officer II is responsible for implementing and monitoring workplace safety programs, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards, conducting site inspections, assisting in safety training, and supporting the enforcement of safety procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and workplace hazards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of construction sites, equipment, tools, and work processes to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues.
- Assist in delivering safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Promote hazard recognition, emergency preparedness, and safe work practices among site personnel.
- Maintain records of safety inspections, incident reports, toolbox meetings, and training activities.
- Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-miss cases, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support the implementation of corrective and preventive measures to improve site safety performance.
- Encourage proactive hazard reporting and participation in safety programs.
- Coordinate with supervisors, workers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Report safety violations and recommend appropriate actions to management or the designated safety head.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification in safety training such as DOLE-accredited Safety Officer 2 training, BOSH, COSH, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of relevant experience in construction site safety or related work.
- Knowledge of local occupational safety and health standards and basic HSE regulations.
- Good communication, observation, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Ability to conduct site inspections, prepare reports, and assist in safety training activities.
- Must be accredited or qualified as a Safety Officer II in accordance with applicable DOLE-OSHC requirements
