Senior Mine Engineer

About the role

PT DMT Exploration Engineering Consulting Indonesia are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mine Engineer to lead engineering aspects of mineral exploration and development projects. This is a strategic role requiring deep technical knowledge, project leadership capability, and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams on complex mining ventures.

The successful candidate will manage technical engineering activities related to Nickel, Bauxite, Gold, and Copper projects, ensuring alignment with international standards, safety protocols, and client requirements.

Competent Person in Nickel, Bauxite, Gold, and Copper (KCMI/JORC/SNI) are preferred.

Key responsibilities:

• Mineral Project Expertise:

1. Manage projects across multiple commodity types: Nickel, Bauxite, Gold, and Copper

2. Provide expert technical guidance on mineral characteristics, extraction methodologies, and mineral processing

3. Evaluate ore body geology and develop appropriate mining methodologies

4. Assess reserve estimation and resource optimization strategies

• Engineering Design & Planning:

1. Develop mine plans, pit designs, and extraction schedules

2. Design mine infrastructure including access roads, water management, and waste disposal systems

3. Create realistic project timelines and budgets

4. Ensure designs meet environmental and safety standards

• Stakeholder Communication:

1. Present technical findings to clients, regulators, and project stakeholders

2. Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and reports

3. Provide expert guidance during client meetings and project reviews

4. Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies

• Quality Assurance & Compliance:

1. Ensure all work meets international engineering standards and best practices

2. Maintain compliance with Indonesian mining regulations

3. Conduct technical reviews and quality checks

4. Stay current with industry developments and regulatory changes

• Field & Site Activities:

1. Conduct site visits and geological assessments

2. Supervise or participate in field investigations and sampling programs

3. Interact directly with mining operations when required

4. Document field observations and site conditions

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field. Master's degree highly preferred.

• Professional engineering certification (SPK or equivalent) is an advantage

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mining engineering, At least 7 years in senior or lead technical roles.

• Demonstrated experience with at least three of the following commodities: Nickel, Bauxite, Gold, Copper

• Proven track record in feasibility studies, mine planning, or project management

• Expert knowledge of mining engineering principles and methodologies

• Proficiency in mining software (Mine modeling software, CAD, or GIS preferred)

• Strong understanding of reserve/resource estimation techniques

• Knowledge of Indonesian mining regulations and international mining standards

• Familiarity with environmental impact assessment in mining context

• Ability to work effectively in multicultural, international environments. Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and lead teams

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
