This is a great opportunity to join a busy engineering team where your technical skills, reliability, and improvement mindset will make a real impact every day. The working days and hours for this role are Tuesday-Saturday, 6am-2.30pm.

About you

You’ll be a trade-qualified engineer with strong mechanical maintenance experience with exposure and experience with electrical systems and software-related devices, ideally gained in food manufacturing, FMCG, or another fast-paced production environment. You’ll enjoy being on the tools, thinking on your feet, and working as part of a team that takes pride in keeping equipment and production running safely and reliably.

About the role

You’ll play a key role in supporting our production, quality, health and safety and wider engineering teams to minimise downtime, improve reliability, and keep our manufacturing operation running at its best to achieve daily targets safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality and food safety standards.

What you’ll be doing

  • Carrying out planned and corrective maintenance on food manufacturing and packaging equipment.

  • Responding quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.

  • Completing asset inspections, preventative maintenance tasks, work orders, and maintenance documentation.

  • Providing practical technical advice on plant machinery, electrical systems, faults, improvements, and maintenance requirements.

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, safety, quality, and waste reduction.

  • Working collaboratively across shifts and ensuring clear handovers on issues, fixes, and follow-up actions.

  • Assisting with spare parts management, staff training, and engineering project work as required.

  • Maintaining strong standards of health, safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice.

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • A current NZ Trade Certificate in fitting, turning, machining, mechanical engineering, or equivalent.

  • At least 3-4 years’ engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong fitting, turning, mechanical fault-finding, and preventative maintenance skills.

  • Experience with electrical systems

  • Experience with TIG welding, particularly stainless steel.

  • Good pneumatic experience, with boiler and steam service skills highly valued.

  • Electrical skills or an NZ electrical operating licence would be advantageous.

  • A positive, reliable, safety-focused approach and a genuine team-player mindset.

  • A willingness to share knowledge, mentor others, and contribute to ongoing improvement.
