About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Industrial Relations Officer to join the team at PT Kuala Pelabuhan Indonesia. As the Papuan Affairs Department (PAD) / Industrial Relations (IR) Officer, you will be responsible for managing employee and industrial relations matters while supporting the company's engagement with Papuan stakeholders and communities. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with labour regulations, maintaining harmonious workforce relations, and supporting the company's commitment to local Papuan workforce development. This full-time position is based in Timika, Papua Tengah.

What you will be doing:

  • Advising and supporting managers on all aspects of employee relations, including disciplinary procedures, grievances, and performance management

  • Negotiating and drafting IR documents, collective bargaining agreements, and other IR-related documents

  • Supporting the implementation of Papuan workforce development initiatives and monitoring compliance with workforce composition requirements.

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with Papuan communities, local authorities, traditional leaders, and relevant stakeholders.

  • Coordinating and supporting community engagement programs related to employment, workforce development, and local stakeholder relations.

  • Monitoring labour relations, community affairs, and regulatory developments to identify potential risks and opportunities.

  • Ensuring the company's compliance with applicable labour laws, regulations, and industry standards

  • Developing and implementing IR policies and procedures to promote positive employee relations

  • Representing the company in discussions and negotiations with trade unions and employee representatives

  • Collaborating with the IR / PAD team to support the overall people management strategy

What we are looking for:

  • Local Papuan with Degree in Law or a related field

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial relations or papuan affairs

  • Strong knowledge of Indonesia's labour laws, regulations, and best practices in employee relations

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with various stakeholders

  • Proven track record of successfully resolving employee-related disputes and grievances

  • Proficient in drafting and interpreting IR-related documents, including mediation, bipartite, PHI and collective bargaining agreements

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field is highly desirable
