An Upkeep and Manuring Manager oversees the physical upkeep of agricultural properties alongside soil fertility and crop nutrition programs (manuring). They are responsible for keeping farm machinery, irrigation, and buildings operational while managing the precise application of organic and chemical fertilizers to maximize crop yields.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the preventive maintenance and repair of agricultural vehicles, tractors, harvesters, and specialized implements.
Oversee the installation, operation, troubleshooting, and seasonal upkeep of pumps, pipes, and drip/sprinkler networks.
Coordinate routine soil, leaf, and water sampling to analyze nutrient deficiencies and determine exact soil enhancement requirements.
Formulate detailed manuring plans, calculating precise ratios of organic manure, compost, and chemical fertilizers for specific crops.
Oversee the calibration of fertilizer spreaders and ensure the accurate, uniform application of nutrients across all fields.
Maintain strict stock controls for fertilizers, machinery spare parts, tools, fuel, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Schedule, train, and supervise field technicians, tractor drivers, and seasonal laborers handling machinery and chemical applications.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Crop Science, or a closely related field.
10 years managing farm operations, agricultural machinery maintenance, or field agronomy.
Deep understanding of crop nutrient requirements, soil health, irrigation hardware, and heavy farm equipment diagnostics.
Willing to be based in Merauke.
