Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research and analysis on market trends, consumer insights, competitor activities, and opportunities for new product development.
- Develop product concepts and prepare product briefs as the foundation of the development process.
- Coordinate with manufacturers, suppliers, and packaging vendors in the product formulation and packaging development process.
- Evaluate product samples, conduct panel tests, and improve products to ensure quality aligns with target market needs and brand positioning.
- Manage product development timelines from ideation, development, testing, approval, to product launch.
- Collaborate with the Regulatory team regarding product claims, legal compliance, and required documentation.
- Prepare product knowledge materials and supporting materials for internal company needs.
- Monitor and evaluate product performance post-launch and provide further development recommendations.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or other relevant fields related to beauty & personal care product development.
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply, or 1–3 years of experience as a Product Development Specialist in the beauty & personal care industry.
- Strong understanding of market and consumer trends, including consumer pain points, competitor mapping, marketplace reviews, and social listening.
- Able to develop product briefs covering product concept, target claims, texture, scent, packaging, COGS, benchmark, and product USP.
- Strong understanding of basic ingredients, active ingredients, texture, sensory, fragrance, efficacy, and product limitations.
- Able to manage development timelines, follow up with toll manufacturers, track samples, conduct testing, handle approvals, and ensure launch readiness.
- Basic understanding of workflows with toll manufacturers, suppliers, packaging vendors, regulatory, creative, marketing, sales, and purchasing teams.
- Strong communication skills, detail-oriented, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in basic work tools such as Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Google Slides, Google Docs, and marketplace/social media research tools.
