About the role
The Field and Cane Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of transportation and logistics operations related to cane harvesting and field movements.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the fleet of vehicles and equipment used for cane transport across the plantation
Planning and optimising transportation routes and schedules to ensure the timely movement of harvested cane from the field to the processing facilities
Overseeing the maintenance and servicing of all transport vehicles and machinery to ensure optimal operational condition and safety compliance
Coordinating with field operations teams to align transport schedules with harvesting activities and production targets
Monitoring fuel consumption, vehicle utilisation rates, and operational costs to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements
Ensuring all drivers and transport staff adhere to health and safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and company policies
Maintaining comprehensive records of vehicle maintenance, driver logs, fuel usage, and transport operations
Reporting on fleet performance metrics and transport-related KPIs to management
Managing budgets related to fleet operations, fuel, maintenance, and transport personnel
Qualifications
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in fleet management or transport operations within an agricultural, plantation, or manufacturing environment
Willing to work on-site in Merauke (non-roster)
Proven track record of managing large vehicle fleets and optimising logistics operations
Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, mechanical systems, and fleet asset management
Experience in health and safety compliance, particularly relating to transport and heavy machinery operations
Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to coordinate complex logistics schedules
Proficiency in fleet management software and basic computer systems
Strong leadership and team management capabilities with experience supervising drivers and transport staff
Fluency in Indonesian and English (both written and verbal)
Familiarity with cane or agricultural operations is highly desirable
Knowledge of cost control and budget management in transport operations
