Job Summary
The Procurement Officer oversees the procurement process for construction projects, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, purchase order management, and coordination with project teams. The role ensures that all materials and services are acquired in accordance with project specifications, budgets, and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Obtain quotations and conduct price comparisons to secure the best value.
- Prepare and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate material requirements with project managers and site engineers.
- Track deliveries to ensure materials arrive on time and meet project specifications.
- Review supplier performance and maintain vendor databases.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate with finance teams regarding invoices, payments, and budget tracking.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and documentation.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Resolve procurement-related issues, including delays, shortages, and quality concerns.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of procurement experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and procurement practices.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP/procurement systems.
- Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities (preferred).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of contract administration and procurement regulations.
