Objective
The Agribusiness Market Development Specialist will lead efforts to strengthen value chains, promote value addition, and expand market access for agricultural producers. This role focuses on improving post-harvest systems, enhancing product quality, and building sustainable linkages between producers and buyers to improve incomes and livelihoods
About Tani Baik
Tani Baik is an initiative by Kaleka that empowers Indonesian farmers through accessible agricultural education, digital tools, and community-based learning. The program combines mobile and web-based platforms, offering videos, visual books, and interactive content on sustainable farming practices. It also operates Farmer Learning Centres, where farmers receive hands-on training and support to develop value-added products. Tani Baik actively engages youth through the Youth of Tani Baik (YOT) program, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture. With over 3,800 users, Tani Baik fosters a strong network for knowledge exchange, aiming to build resilient, sustainable rural communities across Indonesia.
Key Responsibilities
Market Assessment & Strategy Development
Conduct market research to identify high-potential value-added opportunities for key agricultural commodities.
Map relevant market actors, including processors, traders, retailers, exporters, and support services.
Develop strategies that enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of producer enterprises in domestic and export markets.
Value Addition & Product Development
Identify and promote practical solutions for post-harvest handling, processing, packaging, and storage.
Support farmer groups or cooperatives in developing market-ready, value-added products.
Improve product quality to meet buyer requirements, including food safety and certification standards.
Market Linkages & Partnerships
Facilitate connections between producers and market actors through business matchmaking, trade fairs, or direct introductions.
Support negotiation of sales agreements, forward contracts, or other sustainable supply arrangements.
Work with buyers to communicate demand trends and quality expectations to producers.
Capacity Building & Technical Support
Deliver training and coaching to producer groups and agribusinesses on marketing, branding, business planning, and pricing strategies.
Support enterprise development through mentorship and tools for cost analysis, value chain finance, and investment readiness.
Guide clients through regulatory processes such as product registration or certification (e.g., halal, organic, BPOM).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or a related field.
3–5 years of experience in agribusiness, market systems development, or agricultural value chains.
Strong understanding of market access challenges and value addition in smallholder farming contexts.
Proven ability to engage with private sector actors, cooperatives, and producer groups.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and analytical skills.
Experience in inclusive business models, food safety standards, or enterprise development is a plus.
