Responsibilities:
Operate the jumbo drill and bogger safely and in accordance with the supervisor’s instructions
Operate other underground equipment in accordance with the relevant operating procedures, safely and efficiently, as directed by the supervisor
Ensure that the offsider works safely and take responsibility for their safety during the installation of rock supports and the drilling process
Carry out scaling in the back and face areas in accordance with standards and ensure these areas are safe for subsequent work
Install rock support (bolts, mesh) in the back and face areas in accordance with site standards
Mark out drilling patterns and mark misfire holes (if any) prior to drilling in accordance with the mine planning schedule and the supervisor’s instructions
Carry out drilling work in accordance with the mine planning schedule and instructions from the supervisor
Carry out cable bolt drilling work in accordance with the mine planning schedule and instructions from the supervisor
Maintain access routes along the tunnel on a regular basis
Carry out watering in the heading area and tidy up water and air hoses before carrying out muck-out
Carry out mucking work in accordance with standards, starting by clearing the access point and continuing to muck from one side to the other
Load trucks or fill the truck’s bucket with rock material
Record all shift report data accurately and in a timely manner (e.g. delays, location, direction, etc.)
Carry out underground construction work (e.g. bulkheads, concrete pads, etc.) in accordance with requirements and instructions from the supervisor
Carry out other physical tasks as required and directed by the supervisor
Collaborate with other workers and departments as required for operational purposes, following instructions from the supervisor
Who we’re looking for?
At least 3–5 years’ experience operating jumbo drills, boggers and other mobile equipment in underground mines
Hold a valid Class B1 driving licence as a minimum
First aid skills are an advantage
Demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety
Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
Willing to work in remote locations
