About the role
RS Sedayu General Hospital is seeking an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Nurse (IPCN) to join our healthcare team on a full-time basis in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. This is a strategic position that plays a vital role in safeguarding patient safety and maintaining the highest standards of infection control across our facility. As IPCN, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing infection prevention and control protocols throughout the hospital. This role is essential to protecting patients, staff, and visitors from healthcare-associated infections and ensuring compliance with national and international infection control standards.
Key responsibilities
Develop, implement, and update comprehensive infection prevention and control policies and procedures across all hospital departments
Conduct regular surveillance and monitoring of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) using established surveillance protocols and systems
Analyse infection data and prepare detailed reports for hospital leadership, identifying trends and areas requiring intervention
Provide education and training to hospital staff on infection control practices, hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and standard precautions
Conduct infection control audits and inspections in clinical and non-clinical areas to ensure compliance with established standards
Investigate outbreaks or clusters of infections and implement corrective measures to prevent further transmission
Collaborate with laboratory staff, microbiology departments, and occupational health teams to support infection control initiatives
Liaise with infection control committees and provide recommendations for improvements to hospital practices
Maintain detailed records of infections, interventions, and outcomes for quality assurance and accreditation purposes
Support antimicrobial stewardship programmes to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use
Advise on environmental cleaning, sterilisation, and waste management protocols
What we're looking for
Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid nursing licence recognised in Indonesia
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in infection prevention and control or related field
Formal qualification or certification in Infection Prevention and Control (IPCN certification or equivalent)
Strong knowledge of infection control principles, epidemiology, and healthcare-associated infection prevention
Excellent understanding of aseptic techniques, sterilisation processes, and microbiology principles
Proficiency in data analysis and ability to interpret surveillance data effectively
Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to train and educate staff at all levels
Strong organisational and project management abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Knowledge of national and international infection control guidelines and standards (WHO, CDC, or equivalent)
Proficiency in computer systems and data management software
English language proficiency is beneficial
