Position: Geography Expert
Type:Contract
Compensation:$65–$73/hour
Location:Remote
Commitment:20 hours/week
Role Responsibilities
- Author technical tasks to evaluate AI model performance in geography and earth sciences.
- Review and annotate problem sets using maps, satellite imagery, GIS output, and topographic figures.
- Produce original problem sets and write reference solutions with structured quality checks.
- Collaborate with AI research teams to improve model outputs and training data quality.
- Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines and enhance AI model performance.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- PhD in Geography, Earth Sciences, or GIS; orMS with 3+ years applied research, cartography, or GIS experience; orBA/BS with 5+ years applied GIS, cartography, or field experience.
- Working fluency in at least two of: physical geography, human geography, GIS, remote sensing, cartography.
- Comfortable with maps, satellite imagery, GIS output, and topographic figures.
- Clear technical writing; articulate reasoning step-by-step in written form.
