Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Homeschool English and Humanities Teacher to deliver high-quality, personalised learning for middle school students. The successful candidate will provide one-to-one and small group instruction following the Cambridge or British curriculum, adapting teaching to suit individual learning needs and learning styles. This role requires a flexible, student-centred educator who can build strong relationships with students and families.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Deliver personalised English Language and English Literature lessons
Teach Humanities subjects including History, Geography, Global Perspectives, and Social Studies
Plan customised learning programmes based on student needs and abilities
Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
Create engaging, interactive lessons to motivate students
Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills
Integrate project-based and inquiry-based learning approaches
Assessment and Reporting
Assess student progress regularly
Maintain detailed learning records and portfolios
Provide written progress reports
Meet regularly with parents to discuss progress and goals
Student Support
Support students with Special Educational Needs
Support English as an Additional Language learners
Build student confidence and independence
Collaborate with external specialists where required
Learning Environment
Create a positive and structured learning atmosphere
Establish clear routines and expectations
Ensure safeguarding and student wellbeing at all times

Essential Requirements
Minimum five years teaching experience
Bachelor’s degree in English, Humanities, Education, or related field
Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, or Bachelor of Education
Experience teaching the Cambridge or British curriculum
Strong subject knowledge across English and Humanities
Experience working in a homeschool or one-to-one setting preferred
Experience supporting Special Educational Needs students
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Two professional references from previous employers
