Our client is a diversified Japanese retail multinational company. As their entertainment business, they operate one of the largest cinema complexes in Japan. In the past few years they've been expanding across Southeast Asia.
About the Role
Our Client is seeking a strategic leader to drive the distribution of Japanese and Asian content in Indonesia. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end distribution strategy and execution across multiple channels including theatrical, OTT, TV, and in-flight entertainment, covering rights negotiations and promotional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct content distribution sales across cinemas, OTT platforms, television stations, and in-flight entertainment channels.
- Develop annual distribution plans, manage budgets, and oversee KPI achievement.
- Lead sales and proposal activities with various buyers including TV networks, OTT platforms, and cinema chains.
- Collaborate with the Promotion Producer to establish and approve integrated promotional strategies.
- Manage quality control and timelines for localization workflows including subtitling and dubbing.
- Analyze box office and streaming performance data and prepare reports for rights holders.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners such as agencies, film festivals, and government institutions.
- Train and manage team members.
Key Requirements
- Hands-on experience in film or content distribution (theatrical, OTT, distributor, or production company side).
- Experience selling content to multiple channels including cinemas, TV stations, OTT platforms, and airlines.
- Business-level English communication skills including negotiations and documentation.
- Experience developing and executing distribution strategies based on data analysis.
- Cross-functional project management experience.
- Ideal candidates: Passionate in Japanese anime and entertainment content; Experienced in content markets such as TCCF, JAFF, AFM, etc.; Basic Japanese language skills (reading and conversation); Network with Indonesian film bodies (BPIF) and cinema chains; Able to balance both sales and promotional/creative perspectives in driving business; Curious across broad areas rather than specializing too narrowly.
