Freelance VFX Artist

Athena Studio is looking for a Freelance VFX Artist to help us breathe magic into our mobile games! If you have a passion for Casual, Hybrid-Casual, and Puzzle games, and love transforming standard effects into premium, eye-catching visuals, we want you on our team. In this role, you will take ownership of creating and elevating VFX that directly enhance the core gameplay and player experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Improve and elevate the quality of existing VFX.
• Create high-quality effects for Merge, Upgrade, Reward, Progression, UI, and core Gameplay interactions.
• Handle Unity integration and implementation of VFX assets.
• Collaborate closely with the Art and Game Design teams to enhance the overall player experience.
• Iterate on existing effects based on feedback and continuously polish them to achieve a premium level of quality.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience creating VFX for Casual, Hybrid-Casual, Merge, or Puzzle mobile games.
• Strong knowledge of creating and optimizing VFX within Unity.
• Able to integrate effects directly into Unity and actively participate in the implementation process.
• Proficient with Unity Particle System, Shader Graph, and related VFX tools.
• Capable of analyzing existing effects and transforming them into more polished, readable, and premium-quality visuals.
• Strong artistic sense with the ability to create unique and impactful effects that enhance gameplay feel.
• Understanding of mobile performance optimization and VFX best practices.
• Able to provide a portfolio or examples of previous work.
• Proficient in English to communicate and collaborate effectively with our international team.
